I’m saddened by the time warp that I think Librarians and all things ‘Library’ are caught in these days. Here I was thinking that things were improving with increased online tutorage and activities extending from the book-clad halls… but then I receive this email today at work from our library staff…
*NEWS from the Library*
“Thank you to all entrants in our staff brain teaser competition (we supplied the abbreviation and you had to supply the words) and the winner is B.D. from Human Resources at Bracken Ridge campus. Bev was the first correct entry drawn and won the genuine home-baked fruit cake (1/2 kg of fruit, sherry and other good things). A 2nd prize of genuine homemade chocolate chip biscuits was won by R.H. from Purchasing (also from Bracken Ridge campus). Congratulations!”
I mean what century are we in here? At least give us something cool to drool over like an iPod or dinner for two at some swanky establishment somewhere??? But no… the Library staff want us to self-abuse our brains for what… a crummy fruit cake? Am I being over critical, or does everyone else recognise the ‘Jurassic’ flavour of this activity?
Oh… sorry… I just noticed that it’s a ‘genuine home-baked’ fruit cake variety and that makes ALL the difference now doesn’t it…
I withdraw my argument Your Honour.
