Here’s a new twist to the ‘social website’ craze. I read about this in my ritual morning reading ’24’. Like me I am sure that a lot of you have taken solo flights either internationally or domestically and ended up sitting next to someone who, through their distinct lack in social skills, either made your journey unpleasant or just plain straight out boring. Well a new website Airtroductions.com may be the solution to your next anti-gravitational peregrination.
The site basically gives frequent flyers the opportunity to make the most of the time they spend in the air by networking, or simply striking up a friendship with a compatible seatmate. You simply register for FREE, add in a bunch of details about yourself so the compatibility wizard can do its thing and if you find someone you like the sound of, it’ll cost you US$5 to get in touch with them and hook up.
The site claims that the service is ideal for everyone no matter if they are, “looking for a date in Los Angeles, a business networking partner in Tokyo, or just someone to share a cab from Kennedy to Midtown, you need not look any further.”
While I can appreciate what they are trying to achieve, it’s pretty obvious that it will no doubt degrade into just another form of dating site, but this time for people wanting to have a ‘stopover fling’ or perhaps join the infamous ‘Mile High Club’ with some hottie!
I fly to Banff to see Christine in a couple of weeks… where was that sign-up form…???
