Even though I am pretty well up to speed with the terms and technical principles that govern photography in this day and age, I still find it quite difficult to explain the concepts of aperture and shutter speed, their interdependence on light, and the effect they have on colour of images, to newcomers to the art form.
I admit that I’m still learning a lot of techniques myself (Jen just taught me how to perform manual metering the right way using my 10D just last week), but I have always been on the lookout for a really good article online that can explain how everything works in clear language and with decent photographic examples. Guess what??? I found it!!!
For those of you who have struggled with the concepts surrounding SLR photography, check out this article by “Simon Mackie” which takes you through all the good stuff like ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture and Depth of Field.
For the Canon 350D/Rebel XT owners out there, Simon has also published a sweet guide to the custom functions available on your unit. Some great information to be read there too.
Check it out!
