With game one of the opening “Vancouver Canucks vs Dallas Stars” due to kick off in a few hours, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you an article that was published in this morning’s issue of “24” titled “Five things ‘Nucks fans need to know”.
5. Fly the Flag
If you don’t have a little Canuck flag on your vehicle, get one while you can. They are great for bonding with your fellow Canuck motorists. This bonding usually takes place at 90 km/h, so be safe. We wouldn’t want to lower our little flags to half-mast now.
4. Plan Your Parade Route
Don’t let the usual band of Canuck nay-sayers alter your desire to plan the parade route. Go ahead, it’s no different than when you buy a 6-49 ticket and dream of feeding call girls lobster on a yacht. OK, that’s my dream but you get the point. Also if you hate your parents, listen to metal and wear black eyeliner, feel free to plan your riot route. I’m not here to judge.
3. Get Involved
Non-hockey fans, we need you. When your office asks you to go in the hockey pool, say “I’d love to.” Then with your first selection, take Canucks blueliner Harold Snepsts.
2. It’s Tailgate Season
Even though the games are too expensive to actually attend in person – even if you could get tickets – this shouldn’t stop you from having a good feast on game day. Do like I do and invite the entire neighbourhood to a tailgate party in your own driveway. I like to think I cook a mean brat in the trunk of my ’85 Ford Fiesta.
1. Make a Call
The most important thing to remember this playoff season is to take a moment and call a random phone number starting with the 416 area code (Toronto). When they answer, ask how the suicide notes are coming along.
