What a fantastic weekend of hockey – especially for West Coast fans. First of all we watched the Toronto Leafs end the Habs’ (Montreal Canadiens) season, and then it was with a bit of a smirk on my face (sorry Julie) that I watched the New York Islanders upset a “Brodeur-free” New Jersey Devils team in an absolute classic “playoff-style” game. In doing so they ended the season for the Leafs.
I know everyone back at home who don’t even know what a “puck” is, let alone which team is what in the NHL, let’s look at it this way. As Brisbane Lions fans, think of the Leafs and Habs being represented by Collingwood and Carlton (in that order).
The Leafs are the team that EVERY Canadian hates (with the exception of Leafs fans) and most Westies don’t have a whole lot of time for the Montreal outfit either. They have a cool logo but that’s about it! (you know it’s true Mick).
Anyway, that’s all history now. It’s all about the Canucks going all the way now after a great season which has seen them finish top of the North-West division. It looks like they’re going to be battling the Dallas Stars in the first round and in case you hadn’t picked up on it by now… I’M EXCITED!!!
