Real quick post to share my excitement about a trip (that I have now booked flights for) that will be coming up for me in August this year.
You may recall my amazing Wintery trip up to “Whitehorse” in the Yukon a couple of months ago for the “Yukon Quest”? Well it’s always been a dream of mine to be able to get up into that same part of the country during the Summer when all the critters are active, the rivers are flowing and I can get the opportunity to really get out in the wild.
August it’ll all become a reality for me as I join a group of mates (so far confirmed are Bosh, TJ and Chad) on a 4-day canoe trek up the Yukon River from Whitehorse to the Goldrush town of Dawson City on a trip I have affectionately labeled “Yukon Rush 07”. We’ll be floating up through some pretty remote and breathtakingly beautiful country along the way, so expect some pretty decent photos being posted on here in early September when I get the chance to go through them. Make sure you all have your fingers crossed for me as I’ll be desperately seeking out my first “Grizzly in the wild” photos along the way. Chad you promised me you’d make it happen… remember?
Anyway, once we hit Dawson City which is a great little place in itself, the plan is to make our way up into Tombstone National Park where we’ll hike and camp for another 3 days.
From there, the guys will head back to work in Vancouver while I’m planning on continuing West on my own into Alaska for another week or so. I haven’t even begun to start looking into that bit yet, but I certainly will kick off the research in the coming few weeks.
Just had to tell you all now that the flights are booked and it’s locked in!
