Ok, so while the ultra catchy, hip hop flavoured, “Oh… Canada” has nestled itself permanently on my iPod, there’s another track out there that is fighting for top spot in my 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics playlist right now. The emotionally stirring track is called “I Believe” and it’s the Vancouver Olympic theme song for Canada’s official broadcasting network CTV.
The tune is beautifully performed by 16 year old Nikki Yanofsky, a young jazz-pop singer from Montreal, Quebec, Canada, while the lyrics and composition are penned by Alan Frew and Stephan Moccio. It seems they have somewhat of a hit on their hands (little wonder considering the airplay it’s getting), with the track making it to the number one position on iTunes’ most downloaded songs chart.
You can bet your bottom dollar that you’re going to hear this tune a lot (within Canada at least), over the next couple of weeks. But if you’re back home in Australia, or reading this somewhere else around the world, it’s worth checking out CTV’s promotional video, which features Nikki and her song, below:
Finally, if you’d like to pick up the track on iTunes for just CDA$1.29 you can do so by clicking here.
