St Patrick’s Day. Considering I have zero Irish ancestry (correct me if I’m wrong there Dad), the day really shouldn’t mean much to me. I have, however, a love for those pints of black liquid, good times (also known as “the craic”) and I once lived in Dublin for a bit. So, that’s reason enough for me to, without question, place this special day firmly amongst my favourite annual celebrations.
Yesterday, I skipped work a little early and made a bee-line for the only place to be on St Patrick’s Day in Vancouver – Doolin’s on Granville and Nelson. As with every other year I have celebrated at Doolin’s, I met up with a few friends (Wayne, Tia & Shauna) and had a barrel of laughs, drank a few pints of Guinness and enjoyed the live celtic music and happy atmosphere that I’ve come to love in this great little bar.
Sadly, it may be the last one I enjoy at Doolin’s as I’m not sure that I’ll still be in Canada come this time next year, but I made the most of the day and I’m already looking forward to next year’s party wherever it may be!
Sláinte!
