As promised, following the posting of my top albums of 2010, along with the selections of some of my musically influential friends, I have been agonising away with a large pool of amazing tracks that have kept me humming and toe-tapping all year long.
When “Best Of” veteran Michelle, announced recently that she was already working hard on slimming down her list of potentials, I felt it would be cool if I dive in too this year and give it a crack. The only rules:
- Each single must have been released in the calendar year (even if technically the album it comes from was released in 2009), and
- You’re only allowed 80 minutes of playing time or less (enough to fit on a single CD).
My Best of 2010
Essentially, I wanted to come up with a definitive list of my favourite tracks from 2010, but also a list that represents a decent cross-section of all of the genres that I regularly fill my ears with – Rock, Alternative, Pop, Country, R&B, Dance, Acoustic etc.
That said, I present to you, my “Best of 2010” playlist.
Best of 2010 – By Rob Masefield
Total Playing Time -1:18:54
It must be noted that this is a personal list. I’m not for any moment saying that these are the best songs of 2010. “That list” is for someone else to come up with, and good luck to them on that one.
There should be, however, a bit of something in there for everyone and I sincerely hope that you find one or two unknown gems amongst that lot for your own collections. There’s nothing like filling your ears with great new music!
Michelle’s Best of 2010
For the record, Michelle’s awesome list looks like the following. We only doubled up on 5? tracks which is far less than I thought we would in the end.
Best of 2010 – By Michelle Davies
Total Playing Time -1:13:50
Test Drive Time
No point in listing all these tracks on here without giving you the opportunity to listen to them all for yourselves. Right? Well here’s your chance. As always, I’ve created a playlist on Grooveshark containing a mix of the two lists above*. To access it, click on the image below and you’ll be taken to the Grooveshark playlist page where you can listen to your heart’s content!
