It’s not often that I throw an expletive out there like that (sorry Mum), but first glances at the official lineup for the 2011 edition of the “Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival” yields such a reaction. I mean, there’s been some pretty hefty rumours flying around now for the past month or so that have been less than believable, but this list – the official list (released today) – is better than one could hope for in many ways.
I guess I’m a tad biased in my assessment given that this festival has pretty much been ear-marked as my “final hurrah” in North America. There’s not going to be any Gorge road trips this year, given my pending departure (more on that soon) and the fact that DMB are not touring this year anyway. But come on, let’s just take a moment to absorb the lineup officially released hours ago on the official website at www.coachella.com.
As stated on the associated Wikipedia page:
“In order to keep each festival unique and fresh, the organizers of Coachella tend to book performers who have not appeared at the festival previously. To date, there have been only 22 individuals or artists who have played at Coachella more than twice.”
Personally, I’m most stoked about the following for this year (limiting myself to 6 per day is HARD – RIDICULOUS!!!):
April 15th-17th, 2011 – Indio, CA
|Friday, April 15th, 2011||Saturday, April 16th, 2011||Sunday, April 17th, 2011|
If the playlist isn’t working for you above, you can also check it out here.
So it’s off to the Coachella Valley in California (Empire Polo Fields in Indio to be exact) on the 14th-18th April for the 12th staging of the Coachella festival – one final huge send-off, and party to and all parties, before heading home to the mother land!
I. CAN’T. WAIT.
