You can just imagine my excitement to learn this evening that during the Brisbane Festival this coming September, not only will the good citizens of little ol’ Brissie get to marvel at the annual stunning “RiverFire” spectacle (see below), but this year we’ll also get to enjoy an Australian-first laser light show not dissimilar to the Vectorial Elevation art installation which thrilled Vancouver during the 2010 Winter Olympics.
Aussie lighting designer, John Rayment (Sydney Olympics Opening Ceremony) has been recruited to collaborate with Tony Assness (Fox Studios Launch, Moulin Rouge) on producing the 3-week long music and lighting show (artist’s render above) which will light up the city skyline between the Kurilpa and Goodwill Bridges nightly.
I personally think this is an awesome creative step in the right direction for Brisbane, and I can’t wait to check it out. You can bet there will be a feature blog entry on the event here on masey.com.au once September rolls around!
