Enthusiastic fans of songstress Missy Higgins turned out in their hundreds tonight as the much loved Aussie returned to the stage of a sold out Tivoli Theatre, here in Brisbane.
Last week’s release of her new album, “The ‘Ol Razzle Dazzle” marks Missy’s return to the spotlight, and indeed to music, after a prolonged period spent off the radar and away from performing due to a hefty dose of writer’s block. The break saw her retreat to, and independently travel around India for a stint which provided some spiritual guidance and perspective.
Tonight’s performance saw Missy drawing on hits from her previous two top-selling albums “The Sound of White” and “On A Clear Night” as well as take the opportunity to introduce a number of great new songs like “Set Me On Fire”, “Hello Hello”, “Cooling of the Embers” and her current single release, “Unashamed Desire”.

There’s no doubt about it, Missy Higgins has thankfully rediscovered her love of music and we’re all better off for it. “The ‘Ol Razzle Dazzle” is out now in Australia and due for release in North America on July 17. She’s off down south for a selection of shows over the next few weeks before heading over to the US to support fellow compatriot “Gotye” on his current tour.
Butterfly Boucher
I have to admit, until about 4 hours ago, I’d never even heard the name “Butterfly Boucher”. The talented Aussie singer, songwriter, producer (of “The ‘Ol Razzle Dazzle”, no less) and clearly good friend of Missy’s, stepped out as the support act tonight and impressed everyone with her soloing skills (a couple of shots from her opening set below).
She then backed up her own performance by stepping out on stage as basist for Missy’s band – impressive!
