Yet another accomplishment!

Yes... it may not seem like anything earth shattering to some people including some of the crew over here like TJ and Chris who just laughed at me when I told them... but today was all about opening a Canadian bank account with the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). It actually turned out to be a lot less traumatic than I had anticipated... but it will be a good couple of weeks before I have my debit card etc.
I did enquire about a credit card as I figure having one of those over here will make life a lot easier... and it turns out that they do now have a card available to non-residents, but it's on a rather weird term. In short, you have to put a bond payment down on the amount that you wish to have as your credit limit. That is, in order to protect the bank from me skipping the country (like that's going to happen anyway when the women over here are THAT good), I would have to give the bank a refundable deposit of say $2,000 if I wanted a credit limit of $2,000. Not sure what the rest of the terms were, but I'm not all too concerned at this stage either.
Tonight went to dinner with Ryan and Corrie at a sweet and very reasonably priced Malaysian restaurant called 'The Banana Leaf' before meeting up with the gang at a ridiculously indulgent dessert bar called 'Death by Chocolate'. Needless to say whatever the chocolaty monstrosity that was set down on the table before me was anything to go by, I'll be back there in the not too distant future!
Tomorrow's mission should I choose to accept it - FIND A JOB!
