The Sky Sizzles

One of the few things that I really wanted to experience coming home for this particular holiday, was one of the electrical storms that I grew up loving. With the show put on by mother nature tonight, I can well and truly mark this "to-do" off my list.

Unfortunately the storm that passed through at about 6pm tonight didn't bring any rain of substance to our neighbourhood which is visibly suffering from the long standing drought in these parts, but over the space of 20 minutes or so I was able to snap off a couple of shots of the lightning which lit up the skies in an impressive manner.

Good work! I had the camera out trying to grab some lightning shots the other day, but the visible stuff was over the horizon by the time I got it set up. And it was raining, so I could only really set up the camera under the pergola. Another storm tonight, perhaps. So I'll give it another whirl.

Your range of photographic talents never ceases to amaze me!! Nice shots of the storms. I was kinda let down today & yesterday when we didn't get a storm... I was quite getting used to 'em.

Masey, they are really cool shots. I know what you mean about missing lightning storms, I love them too. Dubai has NOTHING like that as you can imagine.
