Kate Beckinsale Shines

So it takes watching the Oscars on a sofa with 3 women to put into perspective what this show business "night of nights" is really all about. For me, tonight's spectacle was all about Daniel Day Lewis picking up a muscular golden bald man for his stunning portrayal of the complex Daniel Plainview in Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood".

But no.

Apparently award winning acting performances play a back seat to colourful frocks, shoes and earrings. Ok, so maybe I'm a tad slow in only catching onto this revelation now... but hey, I'm a bloke.

Can't say I was all that impressed with what was on offer on the red carpet this year. As it turns out (ok I'm more than just a little biased when I say this), the best dressed female out and about on Oscars night was, and not for the first time either, one Ms Kate Beckinsale... *insert dreamy sigh here* who rocked up to the 16th annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in West Hollywood.
