Backyard Visitors

One of the cool things about coming home is the awesome wildlife photography opportunities which are literally on your doorstep. For as long as I can remember, Mum and Dad have had an army of wild rainbow lorikeets flocking to the bird feeder out the back. More recently, however, a pair of wild cockatoos have been making daily visits in the early evening to get their share in the bird seed bounty.
Today was my first opportunity to get the ol' Canon out and shoot a few frames of these beautiful birds. I know domestically these birds are pretty common the world over, but to see them up close in the wild and to see just how pristine their feathers are is a real privilege.

Awww, and the best thing is we've had rain recently, so the Masey backyard wildlife sanctuary is at it's happiest & healthiest. It was a bit grim there for a while.
I reckon you should frame a few passport size copies of those pics, and nail them to the trees they hang in. It'd be like the Cockatoo equivalent of family portraits hanging on the living room walls.
