Karen & Andy's Wedding

The big fella upstairs was smiling down today as my good friends Karen and Andy tied the knot on a beautiful, sunny, Autumn Brisbane afternoon. Currently living and working in Dubai, Karen (an Aussie) and Andy (a Pom) returned to Brisbane during the week to commit to a lifetime together at the picturesque St Mary's Anglican Church, on the river at Kangaroo Point.

While the bride, groom and sizable bridal party headed off to have the official photography taken care of, I headed down Main Street with an army of mixed Aussie and British revelers in tow, to the Story Bridge Hotel where we had a couple of celebratory and much needed Queensland beers - pure bliss!

From there, it was onwards to the iconic "Customs House" for the reception. Here everyone was allocated their seating arrangements with each table being given a "destination" name in accordance with the wedding's global travel theme. With table names like "Iceland", "The Maldives", "Egypt" and more, each one represented a place in the world that Karen and Andy have traveled to over the past 5 years they have been together. Being somewhat of a traveler myself, I was left humbled after getting a true sense of the list of countries my friends have under their belt.

In true Karen style, the entire afternoon and evening passed by without so much as a minor ripple. The reception was ably guided along by the beautiful MC, Karen's cousin and mother of the two gorgeous flower girls, Lana.

An amazing meal was enjoyed by all, touching and humorous speeches were delivered, and after a slow start, the dance floor was lit up as friends from across the globe mingled, caught up and together celebrated the life and love of Karen and Andy.

If you click on the gallery image above, my wedding gallery of images that I and Shane Spargo took throughout the day yesterday will load. Enjoy, and please use the "ShareThis" link above if you wish to share this blog entry and the gallery with family and friends. Also, don't be afraid to leave comments and well wishes to the bride and groom below in the comments section as I know Karen and Andy will be checking this page out from time to time over the coming weeks.
