All I want for Xmas is an Audi R8!

Ok, so to get the full effect of that title you have to melodically blurt it out to the tune of that "Two Front Teeth" ditty. The sentiment, however, is unmistakable.

I've long held a secret love affair with Audi pocket rockets - ever since the unveiling of the "Audi TT" way back in 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Sure, there's plenty of faster, more powerful "penis extensions" out there, but the TT had an undeniably stylish presence - the first mass production car to hit the roads that actually looked like one of those concept cars we see every year at the motor shows, but know will probably never see the light of day.

Well blow me down if those crafty German devils haven't come up with a new pocket rocket that has now shot to the pole position of my lengthy Xmas wish list - the Lamborghini Gallardo inspired "Audi R8″.

I saw one today heading up Burrard Street, turning onto Aberni at approximately 6:45pm and it was like love at first site. So much so that I felt compelled to record the event on my Blog...

The mid-engine, all-wheel drive, 2-seat coupe comes equipped with a 4.2 L FSI V8 engine which, if you have any idea or interest in these kinds of performance figures at all, develops 420 PS (414 hp/309 kW).
All told, the impressive carbon encased horsepower stable can propel the R8 from 0 - 100km/h in just over 4 seconds and achieve a blistering top speed of 301 km/h (187 mph). This puts it right up there with the big boys of supercar production like Porsche. In fact, respected British auto magazine "Evo Magazine" in a comparison test, suggested the Audi R8 was a better vehicle than the 911 Carrera 4S proclaiming, "Audi humbles Porsche. A new dawn starts today."

If all that isn't enough, I have the option of kitting out my metallic beast with a Bang & Olufsen sound system. Oh what aural bliss!

The way I see it, my behaviour so far this year (with the exception of that small, insignificant public exposure incident) has been exemplary and, by my calculations, you only have 234 days left to gather about USD$ 109,000.
