OAR Rock The Commodore... Again!

Ahhhh yes, last night was just one of those concert occasions that you impatiently hang out for all year! My hands down favourite band since arriving in Canada, "Of A Revolution" (O.A.R.) took to the stage at the infamous Commodore Ballroom and Ry and I were firmly planted in the front row for the spectacle.

Cutting their way to the top of the LIVE music circuit in the US via the lucrative college scene through sheer hard work and the uncanny ability to relate to their audience through their lyrics, the boys recently made their first trip Down Under for a quick promotional tour and to perform at Byron Bay's "2008 Blues & Roots Festival". I really want to give O.A.R. as much publicity back home as I can cause I really think they could do well down there.

Now, back to last night. Marc, Chris, Richard, Benj & Jerry were high energy (see video - thanks Dani) and put together a fantastic set containing most of the old favourites that Ry and I wanted to hear (with the exception of Dareh Meyod - damnit!) as well as a couple of new tracks - teasers of what they have in the works for their new album "All Sides" due out July 15th.

And yes, Ry and I both already have limited edition copies on pre-order!

Of a lot of interest to everyone in the crowd was the new potential, (no strike that) guaranteed hit "This Town" which Marc started to pen and develop the riffs for while in Vancouver for last year's concert. For those of you who remember - yes, that was the night that Michelle and I had our little run in with the cheese bandit/burglar.

According to Marc, the band wanted to call the song "Vancouver" (you can imagine the frenzy he whipped the crowd into when he dropped that little ditty), but they ended up going with "This Town", a much more US-market friendly title. You can check out the song for yourself on the right.

The concert was truly awesome, the guys were as good as ever and I CANNOT WAIT to see them three nights in a row down at the Gorge supporting the Dave Matthews Band in late August. Woot!
