Baz & Australia Tourism 'Changing Lives'

It's been a couple of years now since Australia Tourism launched their controversial and infamous "So where the bloody hell are you?" campaign in a bid to bring visitors to the shores of the big brown land. Read more

A Beautiful Day Atop The Chief

Woke up to a stunning day, quite possibly one of the last great weekend days we'll have left this season, so it wasn't difficult to make the decision to jump in the car and head up to Squamish and the beautiful hike up the peaks of "The Chief". Read more

The Grind, Elley, James and the Critters

The Grind, Elley, James and the Critters

With my good mate Elley and her friend James in town for the week, it seemed only natural that I take a day off work leading up to the weekend, to subject them to the toughest bit of fun you can find in Vancouver - the Grouse Grind. Read more

Squamish River Camping

Squamish River Camping

While this past weekend's awesome camping trip on the banks of the Squamish River wasn't originally scheduled as part of my "Summer of Love" agenda, I was more than happy (obviously) to accept an invitation by my mate Jamey to join him in celebrating his 29th birthday in the most relaxing way possible. All I want for Xmas is an Audi R8!

All I want for Xmas is an Audi R8!

Ok, so to get the full effect of that title you have to melodically blurt it out to the tune of that "Two Front Teeth" ditty. The sentiment, however, is unmistakable.

I've long held a secret love affair with Audi pocket rockets - ever since the unveiling of the "Audi TT" way back in 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Sure, there's plenty of faster, more powerful "penis extensions" out there, but the TT had an undeniably stylish presence - the first mass production car to hit the roads that actually looked like one of those concept cars we see every year at the motor shows, but know will probably never see the light of day. Thai Whiskey Bucket Night

Helped the lads relive a bit of "Thai backpacking days" glory tonight, as we joined Ry and Corrie at their place to watch the Canucks game and sip merrily on what are known as "Thai Whiskey Buckets". And yes, when I say bucket... I mean bucket! Read more

The day I sold my soul to Apple...

February 26, 2008

My new Apple friends

In the never ending quest to rid my life of any remnants of Microsoft products and services, I took the plunge today, in a rather dramatic way (well financially speaking anyway) and effectively sold my soul to that computer company with the little piece of fruit as their logo. Read more

HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

Be Australian - Eat Lamb

It's going to be a fairly quiet affair for me this year, once again being a couple of thousand miles from home, but I thought I'd still take the opportunity to cover a few things today while I have the stage to do so.

Firstly, it's become somewhat of a tradition for "Meat and Livestock Australia" to release an ad around this time of year with my public speaking hero, Sam Kekovich, dryly communicating the virtues of throwing a leg of lamb on the BBQ on Australia Day. This year's effort is a wee cracker with Sam's magical line having a tongue-in-cheek swipe at Kiwi Prime Minister Helen Clark, "...Even APEC gets a week and that's just a bunch of blokes in funny shirts - apart from Helen Clark, who does a passable impersonation of a bloke anyway." Double Homicide, Seymour & Dunsmuir

January 20, 2008

Ok... I wouldn't normally Blog something like this, but when it's on your own doorstep you kind of feel compelled. I'd just finished a great night out with friends in Kitsilano with my old Uni buddy Jim who came North of the US border for the day (he's based in Seattle right now), only to find the blocks around my building entrance taped off with Police tape and homicide investigators running around everywhere.
