Well if this isn’t one of the coolest things you’re going to see this week/month/year?!?!

SONY Playstation 3, with the help of the super creative folk at London’s “Studio Output” have this week released a set of viral videos aimed at promoting the PlayStation@Store’s video service which allows users to purchase and download HD movies directly to their personal consoles.

Capitalising on the current image projection mapping craze, the three videos showcase what SONY has dubbed “immersive imaging”. That is, the viewer is immersed in the world they are viewing on screen in a crazy multi-dimensional way that hasn’t, to my knowledge, been seen before.

The mind blowing factor here? Each piece was shot in one take with ZERO post-production or VFX. The fact that there are little men running around in spandex suits manipulating the environment along the way just highlights this amazing detail.

Considering the horror year Playstation has had with the network hacking mess, this viral campaign is a terrific step in the right direction at a smart time of the year!

“Great films fill rooms.”

South Australia’s Motor Accident Commission have taken a different approach in their latest ad campaign, aimed at teenagers, in a bid to curb the high rate of offences committed by the State’s young people – speeding, drink and drug driving and distraction.

The campaign, created by Clemenger, BBDO, Adelaide, and launched last week depicts a number of young people being forced into a number of pretty embarrassing situations all due to the fact that they have lost their license for one reason or another, highlighted by the tagline, “Lose your license and you’re screwed.”

This threat of social embarrassment presented in a semi-humorous way is quite the departure from previous public awareness campaigns seen in Australia which have traditionally adopted quite graphic depictions of the physical horrors that can result from accidents caused by drink-driving.

Check out the three TVC’s launched, below. The last one is a cracker – the best of the bunch for sure.

Upon my return from New Zealand this evening, I happened to catch the following ad which looks at the prestigious, World Champion, “Darwin Ice Hockey Club”. I know, all my friends up there in the “Great White North” are probably thinking, “Eh? What kind of gong show is this?”

Well, just check out the video below. You guys may cringe at Vegemite itself (you know, that brown spread stuff we all put on our toast), but I’m betting you’re going to LOVE this ad!

PS. The slap shot on goal at 1:18min is something else, eh?

Caught a glimpse last night during the opening Vancouver Canucks playoffs game on CBC, of the new Boston Pizza TV campaign for their range of wings. The ads caught my eye as they have adopted the strategy of using a likable, memorable, kooky character that you are drawn to – in this instance, Carl, a critic representing “The Flatties & Drummies Professional Wing Critics Association: An elite collective of wing lovers dedicated to scouring the globe in search of wing excellence.”

Feast your eyes upon these entertaining ads from the crew at Boston Pizza and their creative agency “TAXI Canada“:

And thanks to a nifty accompanying website, you can learn more about the “FDPWCA” on their association website you can find at: http://www.flattiesanddrummies.com/.

While you are there you can learn more about Carl and his colleagues, as well as explore the intricate physiques of both the “Flatty” and the “Drummy” forms (example below) via the site’s “Wing Cartography” section. I’ll be holding an exam at 3:30pm!

Oh how I love this campaign! Hoping to see a lot more of “Carl” in the months ahead!

Boston Pizza changes their name to Montreal Pizza

In other news, think about the poor fans in Quebec who’ll be wanting to cheer on their “Montreal Canadiens” at a decent sports bar over the coming weeks as they take on the “Boston Bruins” in the first round of the playoffs.

Even the most part-time fan would baulk at the prospect of meeting their friends at the “pizza joint down the road” featuring the name (“Boston”) of their round one rivals.

To combat this, Boston Pizza Quebec have changed their names to “Montreal Pizza” for the duration of the series, as can be seen on their website home page right now. Simple idea – great way to show your support of the local team!

I heard about this new Bundaberg Rum (my favourite drop of liquor) TV ad campaign from back home in Australia tonight, from my friend Jen who’s husband Tom is in the ad (the golfer with the stripey shirt).

Check out the ad below which features a couple of golfers who shy away from a particular golf shot, after a sizable crocodile blocks their path to the ball – which is otherwise considered a “favourable lie”. All of a sudden a band of sugar millers from the 1880′s appear on the scene and instruct the golfer to ditch his idea of taking a drop, and instead come up with a more creative solution, just as the millers did back in the day when there was an overwhelming oversupply of molasses in Queensland, hence the birth of Bundaberg Rum.

Not surprisingly, those well-meaning animal rights activists at PETA are all up in arms about the obviously fake crocodile that goes up in a ball of triumphant flame and smoke.

In true cheeky style that has become synonymous with the Bundaberg Rum brand, rather than issue an apology and assurance that no crocodiles were harmed during the filming of the ad, they issued this genius little ditty…

Personally, I love everything about this campaign and follow-up. Despite the slightly off-the-wall nature of the golf tee blow pipe, the tone is down right blokey and it encapsulates a sense of Aussie larrikinism that the world has come to know and love.

TOP SHELF THINKING!

Created by Saatchi & Saatchi London under the creative direction of Paul Silburn it features a number of talented singers congregating on the arrivals area at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 serenading travelers returning to the UK in an a capella flash mob of sorts.

I’m not sure how I would have reacted had I just lumbered off a 24+ hour journey from Australia or something, but hey, you gotta love when creativity and talent come together!

It seems that of late, the Old Spice Guy has become somewhat of a “go-to-guy” when it comes to online citizens needing honest and straightforward answers to life’s pressing questions. And as of this morning via Old Spice’s YouTube channel, the Old Spice Guy began to disperse his infinite manly wisdoms in a barrage of personalised messages that quickly went viral and prompted thousands of questions to be hurtled into cyberspace his way.

If you’re the studious worker type and missed, or ignored the show as it unfolded today, here’s a selection of the better response videos that were doing the rounds…

Ok, it’s no secret that Toyota have had a rough year with public relations following the whole Prius “brakes” drama, but it looks like they are hitting back with a clever online viral piece that hit the web a few days ago.

Back in the day, Toyota went out of the way to position their vehicles as the safest, most reliable and efficient vehicles on the road… and to a degree they had cause to boast. In this new move, positioning their traditionally bland and daggy family wagon/van, the “Sienna” as an ultra hip and cool “Swagger Wagon”, Toyota are kicking things up a notch.

Filled with some pretty memorable lines (see the lyrics below), the nifty hip hop video has taken YouTube and the Internet by storm (650,000+ views at the time of posting this) and is a credit to its creator – Jodi Hill, of “Eastbound and Down” and “Observe and Report” fame.

Check the full video out for yourself in HD below (click the full screen button for best viewing), and if you love the song so much you’d like to throw it on your iPod, you can download the MP3 from the “Toyota Swagger Wagon” website.

The lyrics go a little something like this:

[INTRO MOM AND DAD]

Yeah

This one goes out to all you minivan families out there.
Sienna SE…in the house.
Where my mother/fathers at?
Where my kids at?

Where my kids at?
Where my kids at?
Where my kids at?
Where my kids at?
Where my kids at?

No, seriously honeywhere are the kids?
They’re right there, see?
Oh, cool beans.

[VERSE DAD]
I roll hard through the streets and the cul-de-sacs,
Proud parent of an honor roll student, Jack.
I got a swing in the front, a tree house in the back,
My #1 Dad mug says, Yeah, Im the Mack.

[VERSE MOM]
I’m the world’s best nurse when my kids get sick,
I make a mean gel-mold, I perfected my tricks,
Back when I used to party as a college chick.
Now I’m cruising to their playdates lookin’ all slick…

[CHROUS]
In my Swagger Wagon,
Yeah, the Swagger Wagon,
It’s the Swagger Wagon,
I got the pride in my ride.
In my Swagger Wagon,
Yeah, the Swagger Wagon,
It’s the Swagger Wagon.

[VERSE DAD]

Check it…

I love hangin’ with my daughter sippin’ tea, keep my pinky up,
All the drawings on my fridge sport an A+.
I’m an awesome parent, (Right!) and it’s apparent, (True!)
And in this house there’s no mother/father swearin’.

[VERSE MOM]
Straight owning bake sales with my cupcake skills,
I’m better with the money, so I handle the bills,
And I always buy in bulk, ain’t afraid of no spills.
Every Mother’s Day proves…I’m kind of a big deal.

Daughter: Mommy, I need to go potty.

Bring the beat back, ’cause, yo, I got more to say,
You know I’m always front and center at the school play.
I kiss their boo-boos, clean doggie doo-doos,
Cut the crust off of PB&Js, chill the Yoo-hoos.

[VERSE DAD]

Singin’ “Farmer in the Dell” in perfect harmony,
When I’m rollin’ with my posse in the HOV.
We rock the SE, not an SUV,
And it’s true, if I were you, I’d be jealous of me…

[CHORUS]

Cheers to my buddy Dave for the heads up on this one.
